Sumon out to keep up his good form in Bangabandhu T20 Cup

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2020 (BSS)—New pace sensation Sumon Khan wants to prove his BCB President’s Cup performance was not a fluke at all by keeping up his good work in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup also.

Sumon Khan finished the BCB President’s Cup with nine wickets, including 5-38 in the final that earned him the best bowler of the match. He is also one of the five players to get the President’s Special Award.

His performance in that tournament helped him shoot into the limelight and as a result he got a chance to play the Bangabandhu T20 Cup also after Fortune Barishal recruited him in the players’ draft.

Sumon Khan is now eying to play a bigger role in his team’s cause, stating that he wants to take Fortune Barishal to the final.

“I have played well in the BCB President’s Cup and now my target is to better the performance in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup,” Sumon Khan said here today.

“I have to keep up the performance. Barishal is taking part in this tournament after some years. I want to help Barishal win the match. I actually want to help Barishal to take into the final,” he added.

While most of the cricketers go the path of aged-level cricket, Sumon Khan didn’t come from there. In fact he was studying in BBA in North South University but such was the passion for cricket that he left the university after his fourth semester to pursue study in BKSP as he wants to play cricket.

His passion is key to what position he reaches at this moment. Sumon Khan knows that expectation is high on him after showing such performance in senior level cricket. But he has the confidence to fulfil the expectation.

“I have been involved with Barishal team for the first time. I have a dream to play the final. I have a plan to give my best for the Barishal team and help team’s cause,” he remarked.

The much-anticipated five-team Bangabandhu T20 Cup will begin on November 24. All of the matches of the tournament will be held at the ‘Home of Cricket’ Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city.
