DSCC starts demarcation of Shyampur canal

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today started demarcation of the Shampur Canal and eviction of illegal structures within its boundaries.

During the campaign, the authority evicted eight temporary illegal installations and identified twenty permanent installations that will be evicted later, said a press release.
Regarding demarcation and eviction, DSSC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Moniruzzaman said most of the Shyampur canal was occupied, causing water logging in the area. Demarcation of the canal and eviction of illegal structures will continue as per the instructions of the mayor.

Regarding the demarcation of the Shyampur Canal and eviction of illegal structures, Air Commodore M Badrul Amin, Chief Waste Management Officer, DSCC, said, “We started waste removal and cleaning activities in the Shyampur canal from last 6th November. In its continuation, demarcation and eviction activities started there today. Boundary demarcation, eviction and waste removal and clean-up activities will continue”.

Meanwhile, a mobile court was conducted in Ward No. 15 of the city today as part of regular mosquito control activities. The mobile court headed by DSCC Executive Magistrate M Kazi Faisal conducted the operation in Dhanmondi area of Ward No15 of Zone-1.

During this time, he inspected 36 installations and found Aedes mosquito larvae in one installation. He filed a case and collected a fine of Tk 15,000 in cash.
