Gazi Group Chattogram stresses on T20 experts
DHAKA, Nov 14, 2020 (BSS)—Gazi Group Chattogram went to players’ draft of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup with a strategy of picking up players, who are expert in T20 cricket and they are quite successful to grab some of them, said its coach Salahuddin.
The players’ draft of the tournament was held at a hotel in the capital on November 12. Gazi Group Chittogram got Mustafizur Rahman from ‘A’ category. Although Mustafiz has less stardom than others in the ‘A’ category, he has an ability to change the color of the match in T20 cricket. The left-arm pacer bowled brilliantly in the last BCB President’s Cup.
Gazi Group also picked three hard hitter batsmen in Liton Das, Ziaur Raman and Soumya Sarkar. All of them have the ability to win matches in shortest format of the game. Gazi Group has taken Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat to bolster the middle order. Rakibul Hasan, Sanjit Saha, Shoriful Islam and Mehedi Hasan will aid Mustafizur Rahman in the bowling attack.
“Since it is T20 cricket, we stressed on the players who play well in this format. In fact we paid more attention to T20 experts rather than star players,” Gazi Group Chattogram coach Salahuddin said.
“Actually the draft can never meet your expectations. You see, it is a matter of luck, you will not get a particular player even if you want to. But I think the team we have got is better. We have got a lot of experienced cricketers, there are also T20 experts. And I think they will serve as match winners. I think the team has been good considering all aspects.”
Salauddin thinks the five-team tournament will be highly attractive.
“Since there are five teams, I think everyone has managed to form a balanced team. Not everyone here has anything to be unhappy about,” he said.
“I think the tournament will be very good. All five teams have been very good and tough. Everyone is equal, I don’t think anyone is more or less. Then the rest will depend on who will do well in the tournament.”
The Bangabandhu T20 Cup is scheduled to take place on November 24.
