Bangladesh face Nepal in 1st friendly match tomorrow

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2020 (BSS) – Motivated Bangladesh is looking forward a fresh start having gone many months since their international fixtures as they face visiting Nepal in the first match of ‘Mujib Barsho’ FIFA International friendly series scheduled to be held tomorrow (Friday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).

State-owned Bangladesh television will telecast the match live while Bangladesh Betar will provide live commentary of the match that kicks off at 5 pm under the flood light.

There is a huge enthusiasm among the local football fans surrounding the match as the international match is going to return at BNS after prolonging eight months due to COVID-19 situation.

The friendly matches will be a perfect platform of preparation for both the sides for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying engagement. Good news for Bangladesh supporters as all their big guns have made into Bangladesh squad. Both team’s coaches expect it to be thrilling and win the game for their respective team.
Fitness was the main concern in the team Bangladesh because players were out of actions for several months. But after a near about three-week long training, head coach Jamie Day’s boys gained substantial improvement in technically and tactically and the boys are almost ready for the series.

The similar thing also happened with the Nepal team. After the players out of action for months they started their training session for the two-match series against Bangladesh twelve days ago before arriving in Dhaka on November 5 last.

Bangladesh will go to the field with an upper hand as the host won 12 times and lost six occasions against Nepal while the remaining one match ended in a 1-1 draw out of their last nineteen meeting.

Though in the last two matches against Nepal, Bangladesh lost both the occasions but Jamal Bhuyan and Co. think that the result would not hamper their performance in the tomorrow’s match rather they are upbeat to fight neck to neck to snatch a good result taking the home ground advantage.

Bangladesh’s most recent fixture ended in heavy defeat, a 0-3 loss to Burundi at home venue. Both Bangladesh and Nepal last played each other back in two years ago in Dhaka where Nepal shocked Bangladesh 2-0 to dash their SAFF Championship result.

Last game Nepal played was against Kuwait at World Cup Qualifiers where they lost 0-1 against Kuwait.

The COVID-19 hit Nepal football team could not bring their full-strength team in Dhaka after four of their main eleven players were infected by COVID-19. In this case Bangladesh will get some extra advantage. The host will be in a better position in tomorrow’s match compared to Nepal because Nepal has come here after keeping their four or five main players while the Bangladesh team will take to the field with their full strength.

Meanwhile, the rates of tickets Taka 500 for VIP and Taka 100 for regular seats have been estimated. The tickets will be available at the stadium area on the match day.

The second and last match of the series between the two sides will be held on November 17 at the same venue.
