DHAKA, Nov, 12, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today framed charge against
Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman and eight others in a case filed over the
death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat.

Judge of Dhaka Sessions Court KM Imrul Qayesh passed the order framing the
charges against the accused and set December 14 for taking evidence in the
case.

The court, however, acquitted Prothom Alo Assistant Editor and Kishor Alo
Editor Anisul Haque from the charges.

The accused in the case are Kabir Bakul, Shubhashish Pramanik Shuvo,
Mohitul Alam Pavel, Shah Paran Tusher, Jasim Uddin Apu, Mosharraf Hossain,
Sujan and Kamrul Haider.

Ninth-grader Rahat, a student of Dhaka Residential Model College, died of
electrocution during an anniversary programme of Kishor Alo, a supplement of
the Prothom Alo for young readers, on the school premises on 1 November last
year.

On November 6, 2019, Abrar’s father Mojibur Rahman filed the case with the
court in this connection.
