42 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 11, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-two more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 42 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 344 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of about 12.21 percent.

Among the 49 new patients diagnosed today, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 156 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 19 new patients include 12 of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha and one of Kurigram districts,” Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman said.

On the other hand, 23 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 23 new COVID-19 patients include nine of Dinajpur, 10 of Thakurgaon, one of Panchagarh and three of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7:05 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 13,251 as 42 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 13,251 patients stands at 3,200 in Rangpur, 705 in Panchagarh, 1,175 in Nilphamari, 906 in Lalmonirhat, 945 in Kurigram, 1,284 in Thakurgaon, 3,787 in Dinajpur and 1,249 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
