School boy, 2 others killed in separate city incidents

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2020 (BSS) – Three people, including a school boy,
died in separate three incidents in city’s Jatrabari, Uttara and Mugda
areas, police and hospital sources said.

A raw material trader identified as Meer Hossain, 45, was killed at
Kutubkhali at slope of the Mayor Hanif Flyover under Jatrbari police
station here early today.

“The accident took place in Kutubkhali area when a bus hit the
victim early morning,” Sub-Inspector (SI) of Jatrabari police station
Md Monir Hossain told BSS.

The victim was a pedestrian. After the accident he was sent to
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with a critical state and
doctors declared him dead later, he added.

Meanwhile, a construction worker died falling from fifth floor of an
under-construction ninth-storey building at road no-11 under
section-11 of Uttara at about noon.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Rubel, 22, who was doing
sanitary work on the fifth floor of the building there, victim’s
fellow colleague Faruk Hossain told BSS at DMCH.

“Rubel suddenly fell down on the street from the fifth floor and
received serious injured. He was first sent to Uttara Bangladesh
Medical College and Hospital. From there he was shifted to DMCH as his
health condition deteriorated further,” said Inspector Mohammad
Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police camp. Attending physicians
declared death at about 12 noon, said hospital source.

In Kazirbagh area of Mugda police station here, a fifth-grade
student of an English medium school died after being strangled while
playing with towel (gamcha) this evening, police said.

The victim was identified as Omm Prokash Das, 10, son of businessman
Sujan Das at Kazir Bagh uof Mugda, Inspector Bachchu Miah confirmed
the news.

Deceased father said Omm wrapped a towel (Gamcha) around the window
and made a cradle to swing. Unfortunately he got strangulated wrapping
the towel around his neck.

Police are investigating the matter. The body was sent for autopsy
at DMCH, Bacchu Mia added.
