49 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 10, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-nine more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur under the division.

Health officials said the new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 315 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of 15.55 percent.

On Monday, 36 new infected cases were reported in the division after diagnosing 271 samples at the infection rate of 13.28 percent.

Among the 49 new patients, 15 were reported positive after diagnosing 127 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur city.

“The 15 new patients include 13 of Rangpur and two of Lalmonirhat districts,” Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman said.

On the other hand, 34 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur today.

“The 34 new COVID-19 patients include 13 of Dinajpur, seven of Thakurgaon, 11 of Panchagarh and three of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

While talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 13,209 as 49 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the total 13,209 patients now stands at 3,188 in Rangpur, 704 in Panchagarh, 1,172 in Nilphamari, 906 in Lalmonirhat, 944 in Kurigram, 1,274 in Thakurgaon, 3,778 in Dinajpur and 1,243 Gaibandha,” he added.
