‘Allahor Dal’ operative held in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Nov 10, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged operative of banned militant outfit ‘Allahor Dal’ from Kuptola Bazar in Sadar upazila of Gaibandha district on Monday.

“A special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters conducted a sudden raid and arrested the man from the village,” said a press release issued by Media Officer of RAB-13 Senior ASP Siddique Ahmed here today.

The alleged militant was arrested in connection with a case earlier filed by the elite force with Gaibandha Sadar Thana on December 23 in 2019 and as per confession of his arrested cohort militants then.

The arrested person was identified as electric good trader Md. Raju Ahmmed, 35, son of late Shahidar Rahman of village Kuptola in Sadar upazila of Gaibandha district.

During interrogation, the detainee confessed that he is a follower of ‘Allahor Dal’ leader Matin Mehedi alias Matinul Islam alias Matinul Haque Mandal and had been tactfully conducting activities for the banned organisation for a long time.

He had been regularly paying tolls, inspiring pious people through misinterpreting the religion taking advantage of their religious faith, collecting new members and money for running organizational activities in Gaibandha area.

“The elite force handed the detainee over to Gaibandha Sadar Thana police,” the release said, adding that investigation continues to nab his other absconding cohorts.
