36 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 9, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-six more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur under the division.

Health officials said the new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 271 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of over 13.28 percent.

Among the 36 new patients, 21 were reported positive after diagnosing 177 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur city.

“The 21 new patients include 13 of Rangpur, two of Lalmonirhat and six of Gaibandha districts,” Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman said.

On the other hand, 15 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur.

“The 15 new COVID-19 patients include 13 of Dinajpur and one each of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7:15 pm.

While talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 13,161 as 36 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the 13,161 COVID-19 patients now stands at 3,175 in Rangpur, 694 in Panchagarh, 1,169 in Nilphamari, 905 in Lalmonirhat, 944 in Kurigram, 1,266 in Thakurgaon, 3,765 in Dinajpur and 1,243 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
