Two held with 32 kg ganja in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 9, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) seized 32-kg
of smuggled ganja, a private car and other goods and arrested two alleged
drug traders from village Jagannathpur in Pirganj upazila of the district on
Sunday night.

“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of
RAB-13 searched the car and arrested the two persons with contraband goods
from the spot,” said a press release issued here today.

During the raid, the elite force seized the smuggled ganja especially
packed in six sacs, three mobile phone sets, three SIM cards, one memory card
and Taka 14,200 in cash from the possessions of the arrested persons.

The arrested people are Md. Rahidul Islam Sarder, 38, and Abdul Jalil
Sheikh, 33 of village Votmari Sadarpara in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat
district.

“During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had
been tactfully carrying the smuggled ganja after purchasing those from
Kaliganj frontier areas in Lalmonirhat to Sirajganj district,” the release
added.

After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the
arrested drug trader to Pirganj police station in Rangpur today.
