9 including 6 of same family burn injured in Ctg gas line blast

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 09, 2020 (BSS)- Nine people, including six members of the same family received burn injury when a fire broke out at a house following an explosion reportedly from gas pipeline leakage at Uttar Kattoli area in the city early Monday.

The incident took place on the top floor of a six-stored Mariam Bhaban at the said area of Akbar Shah thana last night said Zahir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah thana.

The injured were identified as Mizanur Rahman, 42, his wife Bibi Sultana, 35, their sun Maher, 8, daughter Manha, 2, Mizan’s mother Piyara Begum, 66, younger brother Saifur Rahman, 18, , Sumaiya, 17, Riyad, 22 and Salma Jahan, 22.

They were later admitted to the burn unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Among the injured persons, the condition of three people is critical, said Dr Rafique Uddin Ahmed, head of the CMCH Burn Unit.

“Earlier, all the victims were taken to CMCH early today and they were admitted to the burn unit of the hospital. The throats of five of the victims were also burnt,” he said.
