RMP seeks media support to prevent drug abuse

RAJSHAHI, July 6, 2018 (BSS)-Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) have sought
cooperation of journalists to encourage and inspire good works side by side
with prohibiting crimes and misdeeds like drugs abusing in the city.

Joint efforts of police and media personnel could be the effective means of
building a crime-free society which is very important to take it forward
successfully.

The observations came at a view-sharing meeting between RMP high officials
and journalists of both the print and electronic media and news agencies here
on Thursday afternoon.

RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter addressed the meeting as focal person.

Additional Commissioner Suzayet Islam and Deputy Commissioners Tanvir Haider
Chowdhury, Amir Zafar, Anirban Chakma, Joynal Abedeen, Hemayetul Islam and
Sazid Hossain joined the meeting.

In the meeting, various issues like drugs trafficking and abusing, traffic
jam, social crimes, police-journalists relationship and community policing
were discussed elaborately to devise ways and means on how to check the
crimes effectively.

RMP Commissioner Hafiz Akter said crimes-free society, particularity free
from drug addiction, must be restored at any cost to protect people and the
young generation in particular from the consequences of deadly aggression of
drugs.

To attain the cherished goal, the law enforcement agencies, media personnel
and community people should have to work together as law enforcers alone are
not capable to overcome the crises.
