19 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 8, 2020 (BSS) – Nineteen more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur under the division.

Health officials said the new infected cases were reported while diagnosing 188 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of over 10.10 percent.

Earlier on Saturday, 13 infected cases were reported after diagnosing 112 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of over 11.60 percent.

Among the 19 new patients, 11 were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur city.

“All of the 11 new patients are hailing from different places in Rangpur district,” Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman said.

On the other hand, eight new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur today.

“The eight new COVID-19 patients, seven from Dinajpur and one from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7:20 pm.

While talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 13,123 as 19 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the 13,123 patients now stands at 3,163 in Rangpur, 693 in Panchagarh, 1,169 in Nilphamari, 903 in Lalmonirhat, 943 in Kurigram, 1,263 in Thakurgaon, 3,752 in Dinajpur and 1,237 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
