Bangabandhu had sown seeds of digitalization: Jabbar

DHAKA, Nov 8, 2020 (BSS) – Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had sown the seeds of digitalization during his regime through taking various pragmatic steps.

“Bangabandhu took membership of Universal Postal Union (UPU) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1973 and set up Betbunia Satellite Earth Station as part of his visionary plan to engage newly independent Bangladesh in the third industrial revolution which started in 1969,” he said.

The minister was speaking virtually at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected committee of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited branch organised by Bangabandhu Prakaoshali Parishad here as the chief guest.

The main task of the organization established in the name of Bangabandhu should be to take forward the ongoing struggle for the establishment of Digital Bangladesh and to spread Bangabandhu’s ideology in the implementation of his dream of establishing ‘Sonar Bangla’, he added.

With Bangabandhu Prakaoshali Parishad Teletalk Branch President Ranak Ahsan in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Awami League(AL) Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur and Teletalk Managing Director Md Shahab Uddin.

The speakers emphasized that the engineers ought to play an important role in their working as artisans so that Bangladesh can lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

They said If the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are strong, then it will be easy to build a Sonar Bangla in 2041.
