13 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 7, 2020 (BSS) – Thirteen more people were detected with coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 13 new cases were reported today after diagnosing 112 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of over 11.60 percent.

Earlier on Friday, 26 new positive cases were reported in the division after diagnosing 221 samples at the infection rate of 11.76 percent.

Among the 13 new patients diagnosed today, none was detected positive after diagnosing 18 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

On the other hand, 13 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 13 new COVID-19 patients include eight of Dinajpur, three of Thakurgaon and two of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7:30 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the total number of COVID-19 patients reached 13,104 as 13 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 13,104 patients stands at 3,152 in Rangpur, 693 in Panchagarh, 1,169 in Nilphamari, 903 in Lalmonirhat, 941 in Kurigram, 1,262 in Thakurgaon, 3,747 in Dinajpur and 1,237 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
