BCB to appoint batting consultant after T20 Cup

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2020 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will appoint a batting consultant after the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, said Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan.

The position of the national team’s batting consultant has been vacant since Neil McKenzie stepped down from the post.

Bangladesh then appointed a batting consultant in former New Zealand batsman Craig McMillan. He was appointed basically for Bangladesh’s bilateral series in Sri Lanka.

However, McMillan withdrew his name from the post following his father’s death, which he said upset him so much that he couldn’t concentrate on anything.

The Sri Lanka series meanwhile got postponed due to the disagreement between the two boards over quarantine issue and so the board has not taken any further step to fill the gap of McKenzie again.

The board however will take initiative to appoint a consultant after the Bangbandhu T20 Cup.

“We are now busy with the tournament. Once it will be finished, we’ll try to appoint a batting consultant as early as possible,” Akram Khan told the reporters here today.
