DHAKA, Nov 7, 2020 (BSS) – The Players Draft for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup is likely to be held on November 12 as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is on the verge of finishing all the formalities.

A total of 160 players will be allocated for the draft in four categories—A, B, C and D, confirmed BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan.

Akram informed the BCB is planning to kick-start the tournament on November 21 or 22.

“Probably we are going to fix the Players Draft on November 12. We have made a list of 160 players. Players will undergo a fitness test on November 9 and 10,” Akram Khan said here today.

“Sponsors for the tournament have been finalized but there are still some formalities. Once it is fixed, we’ll confirm everything.”

He went on to say: “Most probably the tournament will be kicked-off on November 21 or 22. We are progressing, keeping this date in mind. Players will be divided into four categories with the Icon players being bracketed to A grade player. The price for the four grade is yet to be finalized. But Grade A might get more than 15 lakh.”

The tournament will be a five-team tournament and the BCB got a good response from the interested companies to sponsor these teams.

Akram said the BCB’s foreign and local staff will be involved in the five teams of the tournament.

“We will decide who will work with which teams. The BCB will in fact fix the whole set up. We have so many local trainers, physio, fielding coaches and bowling coaches and they will be involved with the teams alongside the foreign staff,” he remarked.

The players and staff of all team will be bio-secure bubble in a hotel, Akram said.

“There will be bio-secure bubble in which the players, staff and hotel staff will have to stay,” he said.

He added that they will feel confident for hosting the West Indies team in January if they can organize the tournament successfully like the BCB President’s Cup.

“BCB President’s Cup was successful. Hopefully we can also organize this tournament successfully. If we can organize it successfully, we will feel more confident,” Akram said.
