26 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 6, 2020 (BSS) – Twenty-six more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 26 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 221 samples collected from the division at the infection rate of 11.76 percent.

Earlier on Thursday, 59 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 374 samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories at the infection rate of about 15.77 percent.

Among the 26 new patients diagnosed today, 15 were reported after diagnosing 127 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“Among the new 15 patients, eight are hailing from different places of Rangpur, four from Gaibandha and one each from Thakurgaon, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts,” said Principal (In-charge) of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman.

On the other hand, 11 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 11 new COVID-19 patients include nine of Dinajpur and one each of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process at 7:40 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 13,094 as 26 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 13,094 patients stands at 3,152 in Rangpur, 692 in Panchagarh, 1,168 in Nilphamari, 903 in Lalmonirhat, 941 in Kurigram, 1,260 in Thakurgaon, 3,741 in Dinajpur and 1,237 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
