Tariq to miss friendly matches against Nepal due to injury

DHAKA, Nov. 6, 2020 (BSS)- Bashundhara Kings’s defender Tariq Raihan Kazir will miss the Bangladesh’s upcoming two international friendly matches against Nepal due to injury.

Finland’s expatriate footballer, through a video message today (Friday), confirmed his own injury problem. On Thursday last, during the training session, his groin was pulled. As a result, treatment will be required and it will take several days to recover.

Addressing the country’s football fans, Tariq said: “Unfortunately, I have to inform you that I’m returning to my club Bashundhara Kings. Because, I’ve a groin injury. The muscles are tense. I thank the players, coaches and staff for their friendly support to me.”

The Bangladesh national football team will take the field against visiting Nepal on November 13 and 18. The matches will be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Keeping this challenge in mind, Jamal Bhuyan and Co. have been practicing since October 24.

There are 14 players of Bashundhara Kings, the champion of Bangladesh Premier League for 2018-19 season, in the 36-member of preliminary squad in the training camp. Twelve members of the club, including Tariq, joined the camp on October 28.

The Bashundhara Kings defender Tariq has not yet made his international debut wearing the red and green jersey. Earlier, he expressed his optimism to get a place in the national team after joining the camp but all his expectations were thwarted due to the injury.
