DHAKA, Nov 5, 2020 (BSS)—Shakib Al Hasan believes his teammates will keep faith in him and the environment of the dressing room will be the same as it was in the past, despite coming from a one-year ban from cricket due to his failure to report corrupt approaches of the bookies.

While it is natural to have doubts about whether he will get the same treatment from his teammates because of the ban, the ace all-rounder does not think that his teammates and the senior players have lost faith in him. However, the top all-rounder of the ODIs thinks it is normal if the trust is broken.

Shakib is returning home from the USA on Thursday night. He posted a video on his official YouTube channel answering questions about the ban.

When asked whether the ban created mistrust, Shakib said without any hesitation, “It is a difficult question. In fact, it is difficult to say what prevails in someone’s mind. Doubt may arise, disbelief may arise – I can never deny that. But since I had a fair amount of communication with everyone inside, there were talks – I don’t feel that way. I hope there will be no problem in this place.”

Shakib is hopeful that he will be able to take the field with the faith of everyone as before.

“I hope they will believe me in the same way, they all believed me before. But it could be, it is not something unusual [to mistrust]. Doubt may arise in the corner of the mind, there is nothing to regret about it. But I think they will have the same faith in me,” he added.

There was, however, ample evidence that his teammates did not lose faith in Shakib, a thing that was seen the day when his ban was lifted. Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim and other players have posted on social media welcoming the country’s best cricketer. They can’t wait to get Shakib back in the dressing room.

Shakib will return to the field soon as he was called up to attend a fitness session, arranged by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). If his fitness is okay, he will play in Bangabandhu T20 Cup at the end of November.
