Police Handball club clinches Bangabandhu Fed. Cup handball title

DHAKA, Nov 4, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Police Handball Club clinched the title of Bangabandhu Federation Cup Handball competition (men’s) beating Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence party by 31-26 goals in the final held today (Wednesday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.

The match was locked by 14-14 goals at the breather.

In the day’s match, Shohag Hossain of Police Handball team was the highest scorer with 14 goals in the final.

It was the maiden title for the Police team in the Federation Cup after the competition started in 1988.

The prize distribution ceremony of the final will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 11.30 am at the same venue with State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP is expected to present in the final as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.

Orient Bread managing director Mahbub-Uj-Zaman will present there as the special guest.

A total of four teams – Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Bandarban District Sports Association and Team handball Dhaka -– took part in the meet, sponsored by Orient Bread and organised by BHF.
