3.94-lakh tonnes of Aman rice production target in Jashore

JASHORE, Nov 4, 2020 (BSS) – A target of producing over 3.94 lakh tonnes of Aman rice has been fixed from 1.94 lakh hectares of land in eight upazilas of the district this season.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Officials and farmers here are expecting better Aman yield as the plants are growing excellent now everywhere in the district.

DAE sources said, the upazila wise Aman cultivation break-up stands at 25,830 hectares of land in sadar upazila, 22,530 in Monirampur, 21,470 in Sharsha, 18,100 in Jhikargacha, 17,140 in Bagherpara, 17,050 in Chaugacha, 9,275 in Keshabpur and 7,630 hectares of land in Abhaynagar upazila of the district.

District training officer of DAE Birendranath Majumder said, “we have directed field level agriculture officials to provide all necessary assistance and latest technologies to farmers to ensure successful cultivation of Aman rice in the district”.

DAE officials, growers and local farmers expressed their hopes to get a bumper Aman production as climate conditions are so far favourable.
