DHAKA, Nov 3, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka today urged all quarters to exercise freedom of expression responsibly without hurting religious sentiments while it condemned terrorist acts in the name of religion.

“We want to remind everyone that there is a perspective of responsibility (before) making comments, those could hurt religious sentiment, on name of freedom of expression,” said foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen today.

On the other side, he said, Bangladesh does not support violence in the name of religion.

The foreign secretary made the remarks while briefing members of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the Foreign Ministry here.

Masud said Dhaka condemned the recent terrorist acts in Europe and expressed deep sympathy to the victims.

Referring to Yesterdays’ protests in Bangladesh against recent comments on Islam made by the French president, the foreign secretary urged all sides to remain peaceful and show respect to others.

He also encouraged all not to mix up religious sentiment with economic issues.

Masud talked about the issue as he was approached by the diplomatic correspondents.
