31 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 3, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-one more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 31 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples collected from the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection rate of around 16.49 percent.

Of them, 15 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“Among the new 15 patients, 13 are hailing from different places of Rangpur and two from Gaibandha districts,” said Principal (In-charge) of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman.

On the other hand, 16 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 16 new COVID-19 patients include 12 of Dinajpur, three of Panchagarh and one of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 12,980 as 31 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 12,980 patients now stands at 3,117 in Rangpur, 681 in Panchagarh, 1,164 in Nilphamari, 900 in Lalmonirhat, 941 in Kurigram, 1,254 in Thakurgaon, 3,694 in Dinajpur and 1,229 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
