Jail Killing Day observed in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, NOV 03, 2020 (BSS) – Jail Killing Day was observed in all seven upazilas of the district in a day long programme today through paying rich tributes to four great national leaders.

Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, its front organizations and associate bodies have observed the day through elaborate programmes.

The days programmes include hoisting of the national, party flags and black flags at half mast atop the party offices, wearing black badges, placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four leaders and holding milad and doa mahfil.

A discussion meeting was held at the premises of district AL office with its President Advocate Syed Shamsul Alam Hiru,in the chair.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by General Secretary (GS) of district AL Abu Bakar Siddique, Organizing Secretary of district AL Md. Pearul Islam , GS of Sadar upazila Awami League Aminur Zaman Rinku.

The speakers said national four leaders-Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, AHM Quamruzzaman and Captain Mansur Ali, were killed inside the Dhaka Central Jail on this fateful day in 1975 just to create leaderless in the country shortly after assassination of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members in August 15.

The over ambitious but comparatively junior and middle level army officials with the blessings of the then self-proclaimed president Khondoker Mostaque Ahmed, the most despicable betrayer and member the Bangabandhu’s cabinet, killed the four national leaders.

They demanded of the government to implement the verdict of murder of four national leaders without delay to free the nation from the stigma and urged all to get united to thwart the conspiracy against democracy and the rule of law.

They also offered special munajat seeking blessings of Almighty Allah for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed sympathy to their bereaved family members.
