92.76pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 3, 2020 (BSS) – Over 92.76 percent coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients have recovered against the average infection rate of 16.50 percent since the beginning of the outbreak of the pandemic in Rangpur division.

“A total of 12,012 COVID-19 patients out of 12,949 infected have already healed at the recovery rate of 92.76 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 78,474 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Monday night, and of them, 12,949 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 16.50 percent.

The recovery rate continues increasing consistently during the last three months following improved treatments and health services being provided to the COVID-19 infected patients.

“The average COVID-19 infection rate of 16.50 percent is currently 5.62 times less that the recovery rate of 92.76 percent in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 12,012 with the healing of 30 more infected people on Monday across the division.

The 12,012 recovered COVID-19 patients include 2,746 of Rangpur, 635 of Panchagarh, 1,127 of Nilphamari, 880 of Lalmonirhat, 884 of Kurigram, 1,039 of Thakurgaon, 3,519 of Dinajpur and 1,182 of Gaibandha districts.

Meanwhile, only 37 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 342 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur on Monday raising their total number to 12,949 in the division.

The district-wise break up of the 12,949 patients now stands at 3,104 in Rangpur, 678 in Panchagarh, 1,163 in Nilphamari, 900 in Lalmonirhat, 941 in Kurigram, 1,254 in Thakurgaon, 3,682 in Dinajpur and 1,227 in Gaibandha districts.

Talking to BSS today, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Sultan Ahmed said the total number of fatalities remained steady at 234 as no more death was reported from anywhere in the division during the last 24 hours till 8 am today (Monday).

The district-wise break up of the 234 fatalities stands at 52 in Rangpur, 82 in Dinajpur, 25 in Thakurgaon, 21 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 14 in Gaibandha, 16 Panchagarh and nine in Lalmonirhat districts.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at over 1.80 percent in the division,” he said.

Among the total 12,949 COVID-19 infected patients, 56 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 12,012 patients and 234 deaths while 647 remaining in home isolations.

“Since the beginning, a total of 83,478 people of the division were put in quarantines, and of them, 78,399 released and 5,079 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines,” Dr. Ahmed added.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Zakir Hossain today told BSS that the COVID-19 situation is being monitored comprehensively in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues to decline while the recovery rate increases consistently.

“We have taken inclusive steps to provide improved health services to the infected patients and inspire common people in wearing masks and abiding by the health directives to prevent further spread of COVID-19 infection in the division,” he added.
