40 more tested COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 2, 2020 (BSS) – Forty more people have been diagnosed with COVID -19 infection after testing samples in two laboratories in Rangpur division in last 24 hours.

Health officials said the 40 new infected cases were reported today after examining 318 samples collected at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur and the infection rate is around 12.58 percent.

Of them, 13 new patients were reported after diagnosing 130 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at city’s Rangpur Medical College (RpMC).

“Among the new 13 patients, 10 are from different places of Rangpur, one each from Nilphamari, Kurigram and Gaibandha districts,” said Principal (In-charge) of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman.

On the other hand, 27 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 27 new COVID-19 patients include 18 in Dinajpur, two in Thakurgaon, three in Nilphamari and four in Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight after completing the testing process.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 12,952 as 40 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 12,952 patients stands at 3,104 in Rangpur, 679 in Panchagarh, 1,164 in Nilphamari, 900 in Lalmonirhat, 941 in Kurigram, 1,252 in Thakurgaon, 3,685 in Dinajpur and 1,227 in Gaibandha districts of the division,” he said.
