JUJA condemns attack on journalist in Chattogram

SAVAR, Nov 2, 2020 (BSS) – Jahangirnagar University Journalists’
Association (JUJA) on Monday condemned the recent attack on a media person,
Golam Sarwar in Chattogram and demanded immediate actions over the attack.

JUJA President Md Asaduz Zaman and General Secretary Md Mahbub Alam came
up with a statement signed by its office and publication secretary Roudra
Azad over attacks on journalists.

According to the statement, the leaders said, “Golam Sarwar has come
down to oppression due to presenting the truths. The truth cannot be
suppressed by any kind of torture, attack or lawsuit.”

“Journalists at various parts of the country came under such attack
while they were discharging duty several times. This is due to infinite power
practice and the desire to destroy democratic thoughts in our society.” the
statement reads.

The statement then demands to bring the attackers under exemplary
punishment that none can dare to commit such crime. They also urge a safe
workstation to the media person so that they can conduct their duty without
any hindrance.

Mentionable, a member of Chattogram Union for Journalists (CUJ), Golam
Sarwar, who had been missing for the past three days, was found as injured
seriously on Sunday. He also serves as the executive editor of online news
portal ctnewsbd.com and a staff journalist at Ajker Surjodoy.
