30 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Nov 1, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 30 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples collected from the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection rate of about 15.95 percent.

Of them, 18 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“Among the new 18 patients, 16 are hailing from different places of Rangpur city and two from Gangachara upazila of Rangpur,” said Principal (In-charge) of RpMC Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman.

On the other hand, 12 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 12 new COVID-19 patients include 10 of Dinajpur and two of Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 12,915 as 30 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise breakup of the 12,915 patients stands at 3,095 in Rangpur, 675 in Panchagarh, 1,160 in Nilphamari, 900 in Lalmonirhat, 940 in Kurigram, 1,252 in Thakurgaon, 3,667 in Dinajpur and 1,226 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
