Will work all my life to realize Bangabandhu’s dream: Dastagir

DHAKA, Nov 01, 2020, (BSS) – Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi expressed his gratitude after receiving Swadhinata Award saying that the award will inspire him to work harder to materialize the ever cherished dream of Bangabandhu, a sonar Bangla.

He said that at a reception hosted by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, as he received Swadhinata Puraskar 2020, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the great war of liberation in 1971, said a release issued here.

“By responding to the call of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman, I participate in the liberation war. I was a fighter of the famous crack platoon and took part in various frontal battles with courage, for which, Bangabandhu awarded me with the prestigious title of ‘Beerpratik’”, he said.

Thanking PM Sheikh Hasina for the prestigious award, he said, “I received awards from both Bangabandhu and his worthy successor, our PM. Who has such luck? I have nothing more to achieve,” said the release.

Mentioning that the government is working to build a Sonar Bangla within a decade by carrying out the unfinished work of Bangabandhu under the dynamic leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina, he urged people to come forward and play their respective part to contribute in the work.

Ministry Secretary Lokman Hossain Mia, Additional Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam, Heads of Departments and Agencies under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and other senior officials of the Ministry were present on the occasion.

Earlier on Thursday, the’ Swadhinata Puraskar 2020′, the highest civil honor of the country was handed over.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the function through a video conference from Ganobhaban. Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Haque handed over the awards on behalf of PM, said the release.

This year, the awards were given to- Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Commander (Retd) Abdur Rauf (posthumous), Martyred Intellectuals Muhammad Anwar Pasha (posthumous) and Azizur Rahman, Professor of Medicine, Professor Dr KMA Muktadir and Kalipada Das and Faridousi Majumdar in Culture.

Also, Bharatswari Homes was awarded in recognition of his contribution to the field of education.
