DU cut holidays, reduce development fees for students

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2020 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to cut its holidays and vacation in the next academic year 2020-21 to make up for academic losses due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The authorities also decided to reduce development fees for the current academic year by 50 percent for different departments and institutions considering the students financial condition caused by the pandemic, said a DU press release.

The decision came from a syndicate meeting held today at university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Auditorium with university’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

The days of winter vacation were curtailed from 16 days to seven days and summer vacation from 40 days to 20 days, added the release.
