COVID-19 cases cross 21,000-mark in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 29, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 21,000 marks as 98 more new cases were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1,049 samples in seven COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 21,001 in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.

Among the total infected persons, 15356 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,640 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Despite no death in the last 14 consecutive days, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) fatalities in Chattogram reached at 301.

Among the newly detected patients, 84 are from Chattogram city and 14 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

Besides, the total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 16,501 with the healing of 70 more people in the last 24 hours.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district after two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” Dr Rabbi said.

A total of 1,132 persons are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
