JS body for monitoring to recover overdue loans of Rupali Bank

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2020 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Account today laid emphasis on continuation of the monitoring activities to recover the overdue loans of the Rupali Bank.

The committee made the emphasis at a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Rustum Ali Farazi in the chair, said an official release.

Other members of the committee– Md Abdus Shahid, RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, Monzur Hossain and Md Zahidur Rahman– attended the meeting.

At the meeting, it is recommended to recover the financial loss of Taka 2.32 crore as the income tax of officers and employees is paid from bank funds violating the government directive.

The Board of Directors of Rupali Bank has been asked to waive the collection money on humanitarian grounds for the officers and employees who have already died.

The meeting was attended by the governor, deputy governor, senior secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, senior officials of the concerned ministries and concerned officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
