27 more drug addicts jailed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, July 5, 2018 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 27
more persons here yesterday and they were sentenced to different terms of
jail each by mobile court on charge of taking drugs.
On tips-off, teams of the elite anti-crime force conducted raids in
different areas of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore and Joypurhat districts
and arrested 43 persons on charge of their involvement in drug addiction and
trading.
Two of them were fined Taka 3,000 and regular cases were recorded against
14 others.
The RAB sources said today the team also seized 901 grams of ganja, 30
yaba pills, 356 bottles of phensidyl and 500 liters of local liquor and some
other drugs-taking instruments from their possessions.
Later, the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court. After
examining the evidences, the court sentenced 27 of them to jail.
Nure Alam, Assistant Superintendent of Police working at RAB, said
different courts sent more than 283 drug addicts to jail after found them
guilty during last 11 days.
Similar types of anti-drive operation will be conducted in the days ahead
for the greater interest of protecting the youths from the deadly drug-
addiction, he added.
