Mushfiqur best player of BCB President’s Cup
DHAKA, Oct 25, 2020 (BSS) – Mushfiqur Rahim’s failure in the first match of the tournament raised a question of his form but the wicket-keeper batsman made such a memorable comeback, shrugging of his bad patch that he ended up being the best player of the BCB President’s Cup.
While the players made a return to the competitive cricket with an intra-squad two two-day game, Mushfiqur made 3 and 11 in those two matches. Later, he was dismissed for 1 in the first match of the BCB President’s Cup. In those three matches, he was deceived by the extreme pace of the fast bowlers.
But he later came back with bang, hammering one century and two half-centuries in a row. In the final, he though was dismissed for 12, he ended up the tournament with 219 runs. His consistency however earned him the best player of the tournament.
Irfan Shukkur, the find of the tournament, made 215 runs and was awarded as the best batsman of the final match and the whole tournament. Rubel Hossain who claimed 12 wickets was awarded the best bowler of the tournament. Best bowler of the final match was Sumon Khan who claimed 5-38. Sumon Khan was also adjudged the player of the final.
Taskin Ahmed was awarded the comeback player of the tournament while leg-spinner Rishad Khan was adjudged the promising player of the tournament. Nurul Hasan was the best fielder of the tournament.
Five players—Saifuddin, Mahedi Hasan, Sumon Khan, Afif Hossain and Towhid Ridoy got the President’s special award.
