Rain likely across country

DHAKA, Oct 24, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted rain or thundershowers at some parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am today.

“Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions in next 24-hour till 9am tomorrow,” said a met Office release here today.

The Depression over Northwest Bay and adjoining area moved northeastwards, crossed West Bengal – Khulna coast (near West Bengal–Bangladesh Border region) during 12 noon to 06 PM yesterday.

It moved northeastwards further and weakened into a Well-marked low and lay over Gazipur and adjoining area at 06 am today.

It is likely to move in northeasterly direction further and weaken gradually. South-west monsoon has withdrawn from northwestern part of Bangladesh. Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal from the remaining part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over North Bay, the met office said.

Day temperature may rise by (1-2)°C and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country’s highest temperature was recorded on Friday 30.9 degrees Celsius at Dimla and lowest one today was 22.3 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded by 167 millimetres (mm) at Chandpur .

Today’s sunset in the capital will be at 5.25 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 6.01am.
