DURBAN, Oct 21, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – A total of 13 people died on the spot in South Africa’s province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) when a minibus taxi collided with a truck on Wednesday, said KZN provincial government.

The provincial government said the accident took place at Mthonjaneni, on the R66 between Ulundi and Melmoth.

“Approximately 13 people have tragically succumbed to death in yet another fatal road accident in the province. The exact circumstances resulting in this accident are currently being investigated,” said KZN provincial government spokesperson Lennox Mabaso.

Paramedics and emergency personnel are at the scene of the accident to assist the injured.

“Due to inclement weather and ongoing showers causing slippery and hazardous road conditions, motorists are advised to be extra cautious,” Mabaso said.
