Fake police inspector held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Oct 21, 2020 (BSS) – Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has arrested a person for his involvement in extortion through identifying himself as a police inspector.
RMP sources said the detained person has been identified as Faruque Hossain alias Fitu, 43, son of Nader Sheikh of Kalikabari village under Aminpur Police Station in Pabna district.
Golam Ruhul Quddus, Additional Deputy Commissioner of RMP, said the arrested person was involved in money collection from different persons illegally identifying himself as a police inspector through using mobile phones for long.
Being informed, the cybercrime unit of RMP detected the person through analyzing data and information of his mobile phones and finally arrested him from his house today.
Police also recovered three mobile phones and five shim cards from his possession.
The cybercrime unit has, so far, spotted 16 mobile phones and 24 shim cards which were used by the arrested person, the police officer added.
