Recovery rate of COVID-19 patients stands at 93.75% in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 20, 2020 (BSS) – With decreasing trend of the daily number of corona virus (COVID-19) infected persons in recent days, the recovery rate also rises and currently stands at 93.75 percent in Khulna division.

“A total of 21,165 COVID-19 healed till Monday out of total 22,575 infected patients and recovery rate is 93.75 percent,” Divisional Director (Health) in Khulna division Dr. Rasheda Sultana told BSS today.

The recovered COVID-19 patients include 6,203 in Khulna, 3,875 in Jashore 3,179 in Kushtia 1,761 in Jhenaidah, 1,382 in Chuadanga, 1,278 in Narail, 1,071 in Satkhira, 977 in Bagerhat, 877 in Magura, and 562 in Meherpur districts.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) Dr. Ferdousi Akter said 43 more COVID-19 infected patients recovered in last 24 hours till this noon raising their total number to 21,165 in all ten districts of the division.

Health officials said the total number of infected patients climbed to 22,575 as 23 new people were reported positive after testing 50 collected samples at COVID-19 Laboratories in Khulna and others samples were collected from two PCR labs in the division last 24 hour till today’s noon.

Of the newly detected COVID-19 patients, seven each are in Jhenidah and Kushtia, five in Khulna, two each in Meherpur and Narail districts in the division.

Dr Ferdousi said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She said all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 22,702 others are being monitored in isolation units in different hospitals under institutional supervision and another 21,391 were released.

The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 6,562 are in Khulna, 4,046 in Jashore, 3,397 in Kushtia, 2,004 in Jhenaidah, 1,482 in Chuadanga, 1,388 in Narail, 1,108 in Satkhira, 1,008 in Bagerhat 936 in Magura and 644 in Meherpur districts.

“Among the total 22,575 coronavirus infected persons, 2,470 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 21,165 have recovered and 396 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the one more deaths in Khulna, the total number of fatalities now reached 396 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 99 in Khulna, 76 in Kushtia, 48 in Jashore, 35 in Jhenaidah, 34 in Chuadsnga, 30 in Satkhira, 26 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail, 15 in Meherpur and 13 in Magura districts in the division”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 21,165 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.75 percent in the division.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana called upon everyone for wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and abiding by all health directives set by government to prevent further community transmission of COVID-19.
