DHAKA, Oct 20, 2020 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) is holding general elections and by-polls to more than two hundred local government bodies today.
Of these, general elections are being held in 15 union parishads, by-polls in 117 union parishads, general elections in 1 upazila, by-elections in 8 upazilas and by-elections in 7 district councils.
Except district council elections, voting in other local government bodies’ polls has started at 9 am and it will continue till 5 pm.
The district council vote will continue from 9 am to 2 pm.
EC Joint-Secretary and Director (Public Relations) SM Asaduzzaman Arju told BSS that all preparations have been completed for holding the elections in a fair and peaceful manner.
The 15 unions, where general elections are being held, are – Sadyapuskarini, Haridebpur and Chandanpat in Rangpur Sadar upazila, Farashganj of Lalmohan upazila of Bhola, Daudpur union parishad of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj, Bhangura of Bhangura upazila of Pabna and Mandatosh,Gajna and Korkandi of Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur, Mohipur in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali, Goaraitupi of Chuadanga Sadar and Amirabad, Lohagara, Adhunagar and Fatiabchhari upazilas of Lohagara upazila of Chittagong, the official added.
