Man to die for killing wife in capital
DHAKA, Oct 19, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man to death penalty for stabbing his wife to death in Khilkhet area of the capital 15 years back.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Begum Mafroza Parveen handed down the verdict against Shamim alias Sagar.
According to the prosecution, Shamim used to take money for business purpose from his father-in-law at different times after marriage. If he did not get money, he would beat his wife.
On December 29, 2005, the convict engaged in altercation with his wife over money at his in-laws house located at Khilkhet of the capital. At one stage of quarrel, he stabbed her in abdomen. Later, Farzana died at Apollo Hospital.
Abdul Hai, father of the victim, filed a case with Khilkhet police station.
On March 24, 2006, police filed a charge sheet against the accused.
The tribunal framed charges against the accused on June 15 of the same year.
