‘Bit policing can play pioneering role to combat rape’

RAJSHAHI, Oct 18, 2020 (BSS)- Speakers at a meeting observed that bit policing can play a pioneering role towards combating rape and all other social crimes including violence and repression against women and children.

Bit policing has been launched to free society from all sorts of crimes through strengthening the bilateral relations between the police and the public in general.

They came up with the observation while addressing a public gathering titled “Prevention of Women Rape and Repression” at Mohanpur Government High School Hall Room in the district on Saturday.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police of Rajshahi Range Abdul Baten addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain was in the chair.

Additional Superintendents of Police Mahmudul Hassan, Matiur Rahman and Sumon Dev, Upazila Chairman Advocate Abdus Salam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanwar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zahid Bin Kasem, Upazila Vice-chairmen Mehbub Hassan Russel and Sanjida Rahman and Officer-in-Charge of Mohanpur Police Station Khaledur Rahman also spoke.

DIG Abdul Baten stressed the need for boosting the relationship between the police and common people and for exploring the opportunities of beat policing for lasting peace everywhere in the society.

He also sought all-out support of the communities to halt the women rape and other violence and repression against women.

Highlighting the importance of freeing the women and children from all sorts of violence and repression he called for a concerted effort of all government and non-government entities concerned to curb the violence.

“Police will work and fight against all sorts of social crimes including women rape and all other violence and repression against women and children,” said DIG Baten, adding the public support has become crucial to make the society free from all the existing social crimes.

He said integrated efforts by the police and the public in general, including the young generation, could help root out the social crimes.
