3 sleeping on rail tracks crushed under train in Netrakona
NETRAKONA Oct 18, 2020 (BSS) – Three youths including two siblings were crushed under the wheels of a train in Barhatta upazila of the district in the small hours of today.
The deceased were identified as Ripon Miah (24), his brother Swapan Miah (22) and their relative Mokhles Miah (24), both were residents of Dashal area.
Md Mazharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Government Railway Police, told BSS that the trio met their tragic end when they were crushed under the Mohonganj-bound Haor Express from Dhaka in Dashal area around 3:30am as they were reportedly in deep sleep on railway tracks.
Police suspect that they could not hear the train horn due to the sound of a running shallow machine for digging a pond.
In-charge of Mohanganj rail way police outpost Samar Barua said police recovered the bodies and sent them to Netrakona General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, railway police have started investigation into the incident, he added.
