COVID-19 positive cases reach 19,973 in Ctg district
CHATTOGRAM, Oct 16, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases has reached 19,973 mark as 90 new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus.
Despite today’s no death, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) fatalities in Chattogram reached at 289.
“Among the total 19,973 coronavirus infected people, 14,912 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,058 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.
With the healing of 77 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 15,908.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said.
A total of 90 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,011 samples at the five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 78 are from Chattogram city and 12 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
A total of 1,132 infected people are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, the health official added.
