Robi hits 5cr subscriber-base

DHAKA, October 15, 2020 (BSS) – Robi has reached the milestone of 5 crore subscriber base as the country’s second mobile phone operator followed by Grameenphone.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mahtab Uddin Ahmed today made the announcement of Robi’s achievement at a virtual press conference.

To mark the landmark, Robi has chalked out a detailed celebration programmes themed on 5 crore new hopes with a promise to route these hopes down a path laden with advanced technology.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar connected the event as chief guest while Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission’s Chairman Jahurul Haque as special guest.

On this auspicious occasion, Mahtab declared customers of Robi and Airtel will receive 5 crore MB data bonus daily as part of the celebration.

The free data can be availed by purchasing any of the popular data packs.

He said Robi and Airtel customers can also enjoy 200 MB free data just by installing or logging in to Robi-10 Minute School app for the first time. Starting from today, the offer will be valid for a month.

Mahtab also announced Robi will also arrange feast for orphanages located in around 50 districts of the country as part of the celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Jabbar congratulated Robi’s management, employees and all its business partners across the country for this achievement.

“Telecom will provide the highway for the country to enter into the era of fourth industrial revolution,” he said mentioning that Robi was always found to be a most eager partner in the industry.

“I can only give a vision, but when I see Robi coming forward with the eagerness to implement the vision, I feel encouraged and believe Robi is now standing on a strong foundation to contribute towards national digital transformation journey,” added Jabbar.

Jahurul Haque also congratulated Robi for achieving this milestone. “This achievement has increased people’s expectation from Robi and I am sure Robi will honour the trust of its customers by introducing innovative digital service and ensuring quality of service,” he said.

Chief commercial officer Shihab Ahmed highlighted Robi’s journey towards the milestone achievement while chief corporate and regulatory officer Shahed Alam moderated the press conference.
