Pirojpur tailor jailed for vilifying Islam

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2020 (BSS) – A special tribunal here today sentenced a tailor of Pirojpur to seven-year imprisonment for vilifying Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Islam.

Judge As-Shams Jaglul Hossain of Bangladesh Cyber Crime Tribunal pronounced the judgement, sending Sujon Dey to jail with the conviction warrant, court clerk Shamim Al Mamun told BSS.

According to the case documents, Sujon made the slandering post on his Facebook account on May 20, 2017. Salauddin Selim, a sub-inspector of Langadu Police Station in Rangamati, filed the case against Sujon.

Police on August 30, 2017, filed charge-sheet in the case and the tribunal on October 26 of the same year, framed charges against Sujon.

The court today came up with the judgement after examining seven witnesses on different hearing dates.
