Navy clinched Bangabandhu Fed. Cup Basketball title
DHAKA, Oct 15, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Navy clinched the title of the Bangabandhu Federation Cup Basketball beating by 90-44 points in the final held today (Thursday) at Dhanmondi Basketball gymnasium.
The winners’ led the first half by 46-17 points.
Sajib was the highest scorer with 39 points while Mithun caged 13 points for Navy. Tanvir and Shishir scored equal 13 points each for Air Force.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP was the chief guest and Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza was the special guest in the prize distribution ceremony.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Bangladesh Navy crushed the Grage Club by 114-42 points after leading the first half by 64-12 points in the first semifinal.
While Bangladesh Air Force defeated Joshe Fights Club by 57-52 points after dominating the first half by 26-18 points in the second semis held the same venue.
A total of eight teams, split into two groups, took part in the competition, which was held to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Participating clubs:
Group A – Bangladesh Army, Dhumketu Club, Bangladesh Police and Joshe Fights Club.
Group B – Bangladesh Air Force, Bakshibazar Club, The Grags Club and Flame Boys Club.
