Two construction workers die in Meherpur road accident
MEHERPUR, 15 Oct, 2020 (BSS) – Two construction workers were killed and
another was injured as a passenger bus hit them near Dindatta Bridge area on
Meherpur-Chuadanga road here early today.
The deceased were identified as Wasim, 30, son of Badar Ali of Amjhupi
Biswaspara area of Meherpur Sadar upazila and his brother-in-law Zafar Ali,
42, son of Shahadat Hossain of the same village.
“The accident took place at 5:30 am today, when a Kuakata-bound passenger
bus lost control and hit a brick-breaking vehicle coming from the opposite
direction, leaving them dead on the spot,” Meherpur Sadar Police Station OC
Shah Dara Khan told BSS.
Being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and
sent the injured person to Meherpur General Hospital.
The bodies have been kept at Meherpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police managed to seize the vehicles, but the bus driver managed to flee
from scene, the OC added.
