US Deputy Secretary of State Biegun pays homage to Bangabandhu

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2020 (BSS) – Visiting US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E
Biegun paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
at Dhanmondi 32 here early this morning.

He was received and given tour of the museum by the Curator of Bangabandhu
Memorial Museum N. I. Khan, said a press release.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller and Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina’s Special Assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad were also present on the
occasion.

The Deputy Secretary of State paid his floral respects to the Father of
the Nation and wrote in the international visitors’ book: “The United States
is proud to be a partner, and a friend, as it prepares to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of its founding, and celebrates 100 years since the birth of
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We look forward to the next 50 years and beyond toward
a strong, independent and prosperous Bangladesh that would make Bangabandhu
proud.”

The US Deputy Secretary of State Biegun arrived in Dhaka yesterday for a
three-day official visit.

The highlights of his visit include meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign
Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, among others.
